A Customer-focused Marketing Company

Tips for Shoppers

What is Mystery Shopping?
We offer a fresh perspective on what’s happening at your location. It’s hard to be everywhere. That’s where we can help. From who said "good morning" to how they said "thank you", we create the customer point of view.

How do companies benefit?
Focusing on training needs improves the bottom line. Mystery shopping highlights the best practices and uncovers potential weak spots. It’s better you find these out before your competitors do.

Who are our clients?
We shop nationally for retail chains, hotels, shopping centers, restaurants, financial institutions and other customer-focused companies.

Who are our shoppers?
We hire experienced, trained, diverse shoppers from every walk of life. Our clients want the real deal that only "real people" can provide.

Tips for Shoppers

REMAIN ANONYMOUS

  • Always keep your identity as a mystery shopper confidential.

  • Keep your paperwork at home or in the car while you complete your shop

  • You may need to go to the car or wait until you get home to fill out your report information. Never bring your shop paperwork into the location of the shop.

BE DETAIL-ORIENTED

  • Pay close attention to what happens from the moment you walk in a location.

  • Jot down the name or description of each employee you come in contact with.

  • Share details about what was asked and how employee(s) answered your questions.

  • If the assignment calls for specific employees or positions (i.e. Teller or Loan Officer), be sure to make every effort to speak to that person.

  • Pay attention to clothing as it relates to the defined dress code. Remember, do not add your personal bias about any particular clothing. For example, if you do not like pierced earrings, do not comment or count that against employee as long as they are within dress code required by employer.

  • Provide comments in every section. Answer all questions completely.

NEED AN EMPLOYEE NAME

If an employee does not have a name badge on, you may have to ask her/his name.  Example, “You look like one of my daughter’s classmate’s. What is your name?”

BE POSITIVE

  • When describing an employee, use descriptions that are complementary such as 5’4” blonde hair, glasses. Avoid any statements about size or weight of employee.
  • Regardless of the shop visit, always say something you liked about your visit.

BE ON TIME

  • Complete your report and submit it to BMG by the assigned due date.

If you can not do your shop, notify BMG via email.  Enjoy your next shop!
